THE SCHOOL
HOLIDAYS START
WITH A PANTO
WA’s summer school holidays and our Christmas pantomime start on the same day. Here’s how to fit Rapunzel into the first week of the break.
Week One
SCHOOL’S OUT,
CURTAIN UP
WA public school Term 4 finishes on Thursday 17 December 2026, and Rapunzel, A Traditional Christmas Pantomime, opens at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco the next day, Friday 18 December. It runs to Christmas Eve, so the whole show sits in the first week of the summer holidays. It’s made for all ages and runs 2 hours plus a 20 minute interval.
Term dates: WA Department of Education, checked 27/10/2026. Some schools set their own dates, so check yours.

The Panto Way
WHAT KIDS
LOVE ABOUT IT
A panto is an easy first trip to the theatre. Rapunzel is a traditional Christmas pantomime: a fairy tale told with big laughs, catchy songs and a villain to boo, and the audience is meant to make noise. Teach the kids “He’s behind you!” before you go.
Meet Rapunzel, Dame Fanny Follicle, the wicked Mother Gothel and Fairy Dandruff in the Rapunzel pantomime in Perth cast list. Never been to a panto? Here’s what a pantomime is, and what to expect at a first panto with kids.
